The design brief was to fit-out the newly created basement for
staff changing and rest rooms and a state-of-the-art kitchen on
a new lower ground floor. This was all to be achieved whilst keeping
the dining room functional throughout the project.
Anyone who has ever visited the maze of historical buildings that
form the heart of legal chambers around Middle Temple Lane, sited
just off Fleet Street will realise just how challenging carrying
out any sort of construction work in the area might be. Not only
must construction activity be performed at nothing louder than a
whisper, so as not to disturb the occupants, but the work site itself
and any equipment used must not bar pedestrian or vehicular access
along the winding and narrow streets.
Last modernised in 1911, the kitchens are sited in a part of the
chambers that date back to the middle 19th century. The kitchen
equipment was designed to enable it to pass down the narrow winding
corridors.
Rosguill carried out this project to the total satisfaction of
the client. The project came in on budget, on time and with a superior
quality of finish which can be seen in the pictures below..
